Senior Scientist, Spatial Biology (AI)

Developing a laboratory and data generation engine at the interface of spatial biology and AI model generation.

What you will do

• Plan, perform, and troubleshoot spatial biology experiments on human tissue samples.
• Develop and enforce data quality standards across experiments and analysis pipelines.
• Mentor and train team members on techniques, rigor, and quality judgment.
• Collaborate with Histology and Scientific Operations on project execution.
• Lead cross-functional projects with Engineering and ML teams to design data for AI model training.
• Participate in lab meetings and support a collaborative research environment.

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, genomics, cell biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5+ years of industry experience with spatial transcriptomics, including platforms such as CosMx, Xenium, or MERFISH.
• Hands-on experience with in situ hybridization, proteomics, spatial biology experiments, and imaging-based assays.
• Ability to troubleshoot assay failures, identify root causes, and evaluate spatial transcriptomics QC metrics.
• Leadership, mentoring, organizational, communication, documentation, and computational skills.

Nice to have

• Direct CosMx experience.
• Experience with spatial proteomics platforms such as CosMx Protein, Akoya PhenoCycler, or Lunaphore.
• Experience designing immunofluorescence panels.
• Familiarity with cancer tissue biology and identity marker panels.
• Proficiency with Python or R for data analysis and prior experience mentoring junior lab staff.
