UK Purchasing Manager

Location: Birtley, UK; hybrid working with 2–3 days per week from home

Salary: £50,000–£55,000 per year, depending on experience, plus an annual bonus scheme

Manufacturing organisation operating across the UK with European colleagues and global suppliers.

What you will do

• Implement procurement strategy and policies across the UK business.
• Lead supplier selection, strategic sourcing, negotiations, contract management, and quarterly business reviews.
• Manage supplier performance, audits, risk, compliance, commodity-price monitoring, and procurement improvement initiatives.
• Directly manage, plan resources for, and develop the UK Purchasing team.
• Support procurement requirements across UK functions and collaborate on new product introduction and capital investments.
• Maintain ERP supplier data, procurement reporting, inventory levels, and raw-material supply continuity.

Requirements

• At least five years of procurement experience, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrable negotiation and contract-management experience.
• Experience working in an international matrix organisation.
• Previous team leadership and people-management experience.
• Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, communication, stakeholder-management, and commercial skills.
• Ability to travel within the UK and Europe.

Nice to have

• Degree- or diploma-level qualification.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification.
