Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)

Location: Remote in APAC / Southeast Asia / Malaysia / Hong Kong

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and maintain highly available PostgreSQL clusters on AWS using Infrastructure as Code.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and CI/CD integration.
• Maintain PostgreSQL systems through vacuuming, reindexing, statistics analysis, and query optimization.
• Build backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies for reliable production operations.
• Support 24/7 production systems, participate in incident response and root cause analysis, and minimize downtime during upgrades and failovers.
• Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and engineering teams on scalability and performance improvements.

Requirements

• 4+ years of production PostgreSQL database administration experience.
• Strong SQL query optimization, indexing, and PostgreSQL performance-tuning skills.
• Experience designing highly available and fault-tolerant systems with minimal or zero downtime.
• Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, RDS, EBS, S3, and IAM.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL replication, PITR, and HA solutions such as Repmgr, Patroni, or ProxySQL.
• Experience with Terraform or Ansible, plus Linux administration and Bash, Python, or Go scripting.

Nice to have

• Experience with Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, or CloudWatch observability and alerting stacks.
• Exposure to ClickHouse or TimescaleDB.
• Experience building internal automation or self-healing tools for query analysis and database management.
