What you will do

• Develop, validate, and implement automated sample preparation workflows for chemical biology and mass spectrometry activities.
• Build high-throughput, plate-based proteomics workflows using cell lines, tissues, and other biological matrices.
• Automate chemical biology sample preparation with magnetic bead-based enrichment and liquid-handling systems.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LC-MS instruments and laboratory equipment.
• Assist with proteomics data processing, quality assessment, and interpretation.
• Collaborate with therapeutic-area project teams to define appropriate samples and study quantities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, or a related field.
• Typically 3–5+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 0–2+ years with a master’s degree.
• Hands-on experience preparing proteomics samples from cell lines and tissues for mass spectrometry.
• Ability to generate samples in 96-well plates and run samples on LC-MS instrumentation.
• Proficiency with chemical biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting and diagnosis.
• Ability to work onsite in North Chicago, Illinois.

Nice to have

• LC/MS proteomics experience with Thermo or Bruker mass spectrometers.
• Experience with Agilent Bravo, Thermo Fisher KingFisher, or Opentrons Flex automation.
• Experience with whole proteomics, phosphoproteomics, immunoprecipitation proteomics, or targeted MS.
• Experience with plate-based assays, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, mammalian tissue culture, or bead- and probe-based chemical biology experiments.
• Ability to use AI to improve individual and team productivity.
