Staff Mechanical Design Engineer (Sequencing Instrument Platform)

Location: Singapore - Woodlands - NorthCoast. The role requires travel to the US for work purposes and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to the development of DNA sequencing equipment and genetic analysis platforms.
• Translate product requirements into subsystem specifications and design precision electro-mechanical and fluidic mechanisms.
• Coordinate concurrent, cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder input, outsourced design, and manufacturing relationships.
• Perform mechanical, thermal, tolerance, cost, performance, and risk analyses for subsystem and system designs.
• Develop test plans, execute verification testing, and support product transfer into manufacturing.
• Track manufacturing and field issues, implement resolutions, and investigate new architectures and technologies.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with more than 8 years of industry experience.
• Experience in product development, transfer to manufacturing, technical documentation, and robust electro-mechanical system design.
• Knowledge of form, fit, tolerance stack analysis, GD&T, drafting standards, FEA, design for assembly, and design for manufacturing.
• Experience with manufacturing processes across low-, medium-, and high-volume production, plus selection of motors, power transmission components, and sensors.
• Strong project management, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work in dynamic cross-functional environments.
• Fluency in SolidWorks CAD software and one or more mechanical FEA packages.

Nice to have

• Experience with biomedical instruments, biological assays, or genetic analysis equipment.
• Experience working in FDA-regulated markets.
