FPGA and Emulation Prototyping Engineer - MCU

Location: Catania, Italy; onsite role.

Salary: €50,600–€69,600 gross annually, with potential incentive opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop, bring up, and maintain FPGA-based prototyping and pre-silicon emulation platforms for IP and SoC designs.
• Integrate and debug RTL blocks on Xilinx, Intel/Altera, and similar FPGA platforms.
• Collaborate with design, verification, software, firmware, and validation teams to establish emulation environments and enable early software development.
• Optimize FPGA resource usage, timing closure, and emulation infrastructure for large-scale designs.
• Automate build and deployment flows using Python, Tcl, Shell, and Perl.
• Define validation strategies, develop system use cases and tests, document debug procedures, and support internal team training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in emulation or FPGA prototyping.
• Strong understanding of digital design fundamentals and experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Experience with FPGA tools such as Vivado, Quartus, Synplify, or similar, plus familiarity with Veloce, HAPS-100, Palladium, or ZeBu.
• Working knowledge of C/C++ and proficiency in scripting languages including Python, Perl, Tcl, or Shell.
• Good problem-solving, debugging, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ARM or RISC-V core architecture.
