Senior Network Tooling Engineer

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom; hybrid model with three days per week at the contractual location and two flexible days.

What you will do

• Provide technical support and lifecycle management for HMRC monitoring, alerting, and automation tooling.
• Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot VMware virtualised environments and virtual machines.
• Develop and manage network virtualisation labs using EVE-NG or Cisco Modeling Labs.
• Lead technical investigations, perform root cause analysis, and review changes to minimise operational risk.
• Support testing, service readiness, and the transition of new projects into live operational support.
• Collaborate with HMRC, suppliers, and internal teams on continual service improvement and governance compliance.

Requirements

• Experience supporting enterprise monitoring, management, and automation platforms.
• Strong understanding of network operations and service support, including LAN, WAN, VLAN, and WLAN.
• Hands-on VMware administration and troubleshooting experience, plus network virtualisation experience with EVE-NG or Cisco Modeling Labs.
• Experience with network troubleshooting, performance monitoring, packet analysis, and diagnostic tools such as Netscout.
• Experience with Python, PowerShell, Ansible, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain SC UK Government Security Clearance is required.
