Settlement Department Manager (Personal Injury)

Location: On-site in Miami, United States; Monday through Friday in-office.

Salary: USD 85,000–110,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, onboard, coach, and manage settlement negotiators and support staff.
• Own department KPIs covering settlement volume, settlement value, client recovery, case velocity, aged inventory, demand turnaround, and productivity.
• Review valuations, demand packages, settlement authority requests, counteroffers, and high-exposure negotiations.
• Apply and teach valuation strategies across soft tissue, injections, surgical cases, and traumatic brain injury claims.
• Maintain and improve SOPs, checklists, templates, case-stage definitions, reporting, and workflow systems.
• Coordinate with medical management, intake, case management, litigation, firm leadership, and clients to ensure compliant and timely resolutions.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of progressive personal injury experience, including substantial pre-suit settlement and negotiation work.
• Three or more years of direct management experience leading a settlements, pre-litigation, or case management team.
• Strong command of case valuation, medical specials, treatment trajectories, procedure-level valuation, comparative fault, coverage layers, and venue analysis.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, written and spoken, is required.
• Working knowledge of Florida personal injury law, including PIP, the statutory pre-suit framework, damages, and fee rules.
• Must work on-site in the Miami office Monday through Friday and be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience in New York, Texas, or other high-volume personal injury jurisdictions.
• Experience on both plaintiff and defense sides or exposure to litigation as well as pre-suit work.
• Experience building SOPs, scorecards, training programs, and case-stage definitions.
• Medical management and lien negotiation experience, including letters of protection and health or government liens.
• Formal management training or a track record of developing promoted team members.
