Personal Injury/Fraud Handler

Location: Newcastle, United Kingdom; hybrid working with around 10 weeks of mandatory onsite training at the Newcastle office. Once competent, hybrid working may be available if specified criteria are met.

Salary: £30,000–£34,000 per year depending on experience, plus annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage a personal caseload of motor claims from notification through settlement.
• Handle primarily personal injury claims, along with third-party vehicle and property damage and credit hire claims.
• Investigate and validate claim circumstances, losses and potential fraudulent or exaggerated claims.
• Gather, review and evaluate information to determine liability and claim value.
• Liaise and negotiate with customers, third parties and solicitors to achieve appropriate settlements.
• Progress claims proactively within defined processes, deadlines and authorities.

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience in a motor claims environment.
• Experience handling motor claims is essential.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage an independent claims caseload proactively and meet deadlines.
• Sound judgement, a common-sense approach and the ability to make robust decisions based on presented information.
• Strong PC skills and the ability to learn new software.

Nice to have

• Experience handling claims through the MOJ and OIC portals and claims outside the portals.
• Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and their application to claims.
• Knowledge of litigation processes and different costs regimes.
• Experience with personal injury, third-party damage or credit hire claims.
