Field Technology Specialist (Physical Security)

Location: Washington, DC, USA; field work across project environments with travel of up to 85%.

Salary: $25.00–$40.00 per hour; full-time, non-exempt.

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems supporting physical security and IT infrastructure.
• Deploy cameras, access control devices, biometric systems, power supplies, locking hardware, and related security equipment.
• Run video and data cabling, assemble hardware, and use hand and power tools according to technical drawings and design specifications.
• Evaluate system performance, provide quality assurance feedback, and support hardening and configuration of Windows-based environments.
• Coordinate project materials and equipment, track hardware receipt, and support timely delivery of project work.
• Work indoors and outdoors, including climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working at heights.

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in low-voltage installation, security systems, or IT hardware deployment.
• Strong understanding of IP-based systems, networking fundamentals, video surveillance, and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, design plans, and schematics; basic electrical theory is required.
• Valid driver's license and readiness to travel approximately 85% of the time.
• Ability to obtain and maintain government-issued security clearances.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and attention to workmanship.
