Engineering Manager (Networking)

Location: Remote in the United States or United Kingdom

Salary: $195,000–$210,000 annually in the US; £100,000–£120,000 annually in the UK. Equity and bonus opportunities are offered.

What you will do

• Lead an engineering squad while reviewing code, contributing to design discussions, and occasionally shipping code.
• Drive project execution by defining plans, setting sprint goals, removing blockers, and managing deadlines.
• Own the software development lifecycle from planning and design through testing and release.
• Partner with product managers and peer engineering managers to translate customer and community needs into deliverable plans.
• Coach engineers, provide direct feedback, support career growth, and build a strong hiring pipeline.
• Support open-source contributors, communicate progress to engineering leadership, and guide technical trade-offs.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager or Team Lead, preferably in a player-coach role.
• Strong technical background with the ability to review software designs and code.
• Experience delivering projects under tight timelines and removing execution blockers.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps, CI/CD, GitHub, and software security practices.
• Excellent direct communication skills and experience coaching engineers in a remote, async-first environment.

Nice to have

• Networking industry experience and open-source development or community engagement experience.
• Familiarity with Python, Django, Go, gRPC, or OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, data privacy, and compliance requirements.
