Engineering Manager (ML)

What you will do

• Lead a cross-functional team of ML engineers, backend and frontend engineers, QA specialists and a product analyst.
• Own the product data pipeline from merchant feeds and e-commerce plugins through ML enrichment, moderation and publication.
• Define the ML roadmap for catalogue intelligence, including categorisation, attribute extraction, translation, moderation, embeddings and recommendations.
• Lead cross-team projects, quarterly planning, roadmap definition and OKRs for catalogue quality and personalisation.
• Build evaluation and labeling infrastructure and ensure model changes meet quality, cost, latency and data residency requirements.
• Hire, develop and motivate engineers while overseeing technical debt, incidents, delivery transparency and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years building production ML systems involving NLP, LLM applications, embeddings or large-scale classification.
• 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or ML Team Lead in e-commerce, marketplace or fintech.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM products, including prompt and pipeline design, fine-tuning, evaluation, cost and latency control, and self-hosted or API-based models.
• Experience operating observable, reproducible and reliable batch and streaming data and ML pipelines.
• Strong backend and distributed-systems fundamentals, with experience reviewing Go and Python services.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher; strong communication and independent decision-making skills.

• Experience with product catalogues, PIM systems or marketplace content moderation.
• Experience working with Arabic-language content.
• Familiarity with data residency and regulated-data requirements.
