Environmental Test Engineer Intern (Winter 2027) (Aerospace)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite 5 days a week

What you will do

• Work with an interdisciplinary team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software.
• Set up and operate ambient thermal chambers, thermal vacuum chambers, vibration shaker tables, and EMI/EMC equipment.
• Use thermal chambers, vibration tables, data acquisition systems, oscilloscopes, and other instruments to execute test plans.
• Conduct vibration, acoustics, thermal, thermal vacuum, and RF environmental testing.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at a four-year university and pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Passion for hands-on hardware development in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time effectively.
• Strong communication skills and familiarity with spacecraft systems and operations.
• Must work onsite five days per week in San Francisco.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required for U.S. space technology export compliance.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware.
• Python experience for interfacing with test equipment, processing datasets, and visualizing data.
• CAD experience and direct electrical or mechanical design experience.
• Ability to debug hardware and software problems under time pressure.
