TL;DR
Mechanical Integration and Test Engineer (Aerospace): Planning, executing, and documenting integration and validation testing for mechanical components and systems used in spacecraft, rovers, and lunar infrastructure with an accent on design for manufacturing, test procedure development, and environmental testing. Focus on operating shaker tables and thermal vacuum chambers, preparing integration and test readiness reviews, and processing data from complex aerospace hardware tests.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States. Relocation assistance is provided for qualified candidates moving to Pittsburgh.

What you will do

  • Support design reviews from Design for Manufacturing and Assembly and Design for Test perspectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute integration and test plans, procedures, work instructions, and reports.
  • Prepare parts, fasteners, consumables, tooling, calibration checks, and other items required for integration and testing.
  • Support the design of ground support equipment, fixtures, assembly aids, and other test tooling.
  • Prepare for and participate in Integration Readiness Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews.
  • Operate shaker tables and thermal vacuum chambers, support off-site testing, and collect and analyze test data.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0–2+ years of experience with integration, assembly, or testing of electromechanical or fluid systems.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation, including test procedures, work instructions, and reports.
  • Familiarity with CAD; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements.
  • Applicants must be U.S. Persons and eligible to obtain required export authorizations under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, and environmental testing.
  • Exposure to aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or other complex hardware systems.
  • Familiarity with safety, quality, ESD, FOD, and cleanroom practices.
  • Experience with shop tools, 3D printing, machining, SolidWorks, VBA, Python, Arduino, Linux, LabVIEW, Siemens TestLab, or LabJack.
