What you will do

• Partner with discovery teams to evaluate samples, define structural biology strategies, and design fit-for-purpose experiments.
• Perform and guide cryo-sample preparation, grid optimization, data collection, image processing, model building, refinement, and structural interpretation.
• Develop scalable and reproducible CryoEM workflows that improve throughput, robustness, and data quality.
• Deliver structural insights supporting mechanism-of-action studies, molecular design, and therapeutic decisions.
• Collaborate with Structural Biology, Protein Sciences, Therapeutic Discovery, Protein Engineering, Computational Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Automation, and related teams.
• Support the South San Francisco CryoEM platform, including the 200 kV Glacios 2 and user support for the 300 kV Titan Krios.

Requirements

• PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field; alternatively, PharmD, MD with relevant postdoctoral experience, a master’s degree plus 3 years of Structural Biology experience, or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of Structural Biology experience.
• Experience with structural biology methods and the ability to develop experimental strategies for challenging samples.
• Experience with X-ray crystallography, MicroED, electron tomography, or integrative structural biology is preferred.
• Experience supporting structure-based drug discovery, developing reproducible methodologies, and collaborating across scientific disciplines is preferred.
• Experience with membrane proteins, antibodies, multispecifics, GPCRs, or other challenging therapeutic targets is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated data collection software such as EPU.
• Experience mentoring scientists or training CryoEM users.
• Scientific publications, presentations, or technology innovation experience.
• Python or other programming experience.
• Experience operating Glacios, Titan Krios, or equivalent high-end CryoEM instruments.
