Patient Access Liaison (Rare Disease)

Location: US Field (West), based in Los Angeles, California; field-based role with phone, virtual, and in-person engagement and up to 50% travel, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.

Annual base salary: $158,394–$185,578 for Level 5 or $164,276–$222,256 for Level 6.

What you will do

• Support patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and sites of care with insurance benefits, prior authorization, reimbursement, and access to infused and specialty therapies.
• Assess patient needs and provide education on coverage requirements, co-pay assistance, foundations, and free drug programs.
• Educate physician offices and infusion centers on reimbursement pathways, coding, billing, and common prior authorization requirements.
• Investigate access barriers, denied claims, and reimbursement issues before and after infusion, escalating complex cases when needed.
• Collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Case Management, Marketing, and Site of Care teams.
• Document activities accurately, report adverse events and product complaints, and follow HIPAA, compliance, and pharmacovigilance procedures.

Requirements

• Level 5: doctorate; or master's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; bachelor's degree plus 4 years; associate's degree plus 8 years; or high school diploma/GED plus 10 years of patient services or access and reimbursement experience.
• Level 6: doctorate plus 2 years, master's degree plus 4 years, or bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with patient access, reimbursement, prior authorization, appeals, denied claims, and healthcare reimbursement systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage complex patient situations, respond rapidly to urgent access needs, and work effectively in a matrix field environment.
• Ability to travel up to 50% within the US Field (West) territory.

Nice to have

• Experience with buy-and-bill or infused pharmaceutical therapies.
• Rare disease or orphan drug experience.
• Clinical background in nursing or allied health.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, FDA, OIG, and internal compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM, AI, and relevant systems.
