Staff Scrum Master – Embedded Software & Firmware (Aerospace)

Location: On-site at hirify.global’s HQ office in Palo Alto, California, United States. Applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States.

Salary: $150,000–$215,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead Agile and Scrum execution for embedded software, firmware, DevOps, and software verification teams.
• Maintain prioritized backlogs, development plans, execution status, schedules, and release readiness across Jira, GitLab, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Project.
• Coordinate work across firmware, low-level software, device drivers, hardware abstraction layers, communications interfaces, bootloaders, diagnostics, DevOps, testing, and verification.
• Track dependencies across software, electrical hardware, systems engineering, GNC, manufacturing, aircraft integration, and flight-test teams.
• Support build and integration schedules, regression testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, aircraft testing, and production software releases.
• Identify blockers and risks, drive defect triage and resolution, and provide fact-based status against program milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years supporting software or firmware development teams in aerospace, automotive, robotics, autonomous systems, industrial controls, or another complex hardware/software environment.
• 3+ years as a Scrum Master, technical program manager, software project manager, engineering project manager, or similar execution-focused role.
• Strong working knowledge of Jira and GitLab, including backlogs, issues, boards, releases, defects, and development workflows.
• Experience with integrated schedules using Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Project, plus a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and verification processes.
• Technical understanding of embedded software, firmware, drivers, hardware interfaces, communications protocols, software/hardware integration, automated testing, and release readiness.

Nice to have

• Experience with safety-critical aerospace, automotive, robotics, or autonomous systems.
• Experience with embedded C/C++, Python, RTOS-based systems, device drivers, bootloaders, or hardware abstraction layers.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, GitLab CI/CD, build systems, automated testing, Git workflows, and release management.
• Experience with HIL, SIL, bench testing, vehicle integration, flight testing, Jama, requirements traceability, or configuration management.
• Scrum Master, PMI-ACP, PMP, CSM, PSM, or similar certification.
