Program Engineer (Voice Core)

Location: Anchorage, Alaska, United States; project work across Alaska, Oregon, and Washington. Remote work is eligible with restrictions, with travel of up to 25% including rural locations.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership across engineering programs from planning and architecture through deployment, operations hand-off, and lifecycle management.
• Lead the architecture, design, deployment, and optimization of Class 4/Class 5 switching platforms, including Metaswitch, softswitches, SBCs, and media gateways.
• Design and oversee end-to-end core network architectures for large-scale, resilient, and interoperable voice deployments.
• Coordinate project engineers, project managers, technical strategy, estimating, sales engineering, and executive stakeholders.
• Manage program scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, quality controls, and technical performance.
• Lead engineering reviews and after-action reviews, applying lessons learned to improve designs, delivery practices, and operational outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, project management, business, IT/IS, or a related discipline; relevant experience may substitute year for year.
• At least seven years of progressive professional engineering experience.
• Advanced expertise in SIP, SS7/SIGTRAN, MGCP, ISDN PRI, TDM, and IMS architectures.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, reference designs, testing, documentation, and telecommunications practices.
• Ability to work in a standard office or home-office setting, work assigned shifts, and provide occasional after-hours support in a 24/7 critical-services environment.
• Ability to travel up to 25% to Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and rural locations, with reliable transportation available when required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• Experience in broadband, ISP infrastructure, fiber, wireless, satellite communications, capacity planning, lifecycle management, IT, or security.
• Metaswitch, CCNA, VoIP, SS7/SIGTRAN, SSCA, PMP, PgMP, Agile, or Scrum certifications.
