Scientist, CMC Quantitative Sciences (Biotechnology)

Location: 100% onsite in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. The role requires close collaboration with laboratory, development, manufacturing, and quality partners. Only U.S. persons are eligible because of U.S. export control requirements.

Salary: $109,200–$174,600 per year, with potential eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Plan and execute quantitative analyses, models, and data solutions supporting research, development, manufacturing, analytical, quality, and product lifecycle decisions.
• Translate scientific and business questions into analytical objectives, select appropriate methods, evaluate assumptions, and communicate conclusions and recommendations.
• Apply statistics, machine learning, predictive and mechanistic modeling, data science, and data engineering approaches.
• Lead defined projects and workstreams, coordinate contributors, manage timelines, and escalate technical or delivery risks.
• Partner with scientists, engineers, manufacturing, analytical, quality, regulatory, and digital teams to translate analyses into practical decisions.
• Build reproducible analyses, code, visualizations, reports, dashboards, pipelines, and reusable analytical tools aligned with GxP expectations.

Requirements

• PhD with 0–2 years, MS with 5–8 years, or BS with 8–10 years of experience in statistics, biostatistics, data science, applied mathematics, chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• Strong depth in at least one quantitative discipline, such as applied statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, data science, mechanistic modeling, data engineering, or digital analytics.
• Experience independently selecting and applying quantitative methods to moderately complex scientific, technical, or operational problems.
• Proficiency in R, Python, SQL, and statistical software such as JMP, Statistica, or Minitab.
• Knowledge of regulatory guidance including ICH, FDA, EMA, or WHO, with experience producing reproducible analyses and communicating assumptions, limitations, results, and recommendations.
• Must work onsite in Norwood, Massachusetts, and qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export control laws; visa sponsorship for non-U.S. persons is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with machine learning, mechanistic, predictive, or multivariate models in scientific or manufacturing settings.
• Pharmaceutical or biotechnology development experience, including analytical development, manufacturing, quality systems, or regulated laboratory environments.
• Experience with MES, LIMS, OSI PI, SAP, DeltaV, Chromeleon, laboratory instruments, cloud data platforms, or internal applications.
• Experience building automated reports, dashboards, applications, data pipelines, or governed digital solutions.
