Motor/Actuator Design Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Design and optimize motor and actuator architectures for drone and robotic applications.
• Develop electrical, mechanical, and thermal design specifications.
• Simulate and analyze motor performance using specialized design software.
• Collaborate with Field Applications Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure feasibility and manufacturability.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation, and continuous product improvements.
• Document design processes, test results, and revisions while monitoring emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in motor or actuator design, preferably in drone, robotics, or aerospace industries.
• Strong knowledge of electric motor theory, electromagnetic design, thermal management, and mechanical design.
• Proficiency with motor design and simulation tools such as FEMM or ANSYS Maxwell, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience designing brushless DC motors, actuators, or similar electromechanical devices.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes for motor components and assemblies.
• Hands-on experience with prototype testing and validation.
• Familiarity with drone or robotics industry requirements and standards.
