Sr. Engineer - Early Career - Advanced Data Storage Micromagnetic Modeler (Micromagnetics)

Location: Onsite at the Normandale campus in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. Travel is not required.

Salary: $94,000–$118,000 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct research on advanced data storage systems through atomistic or renormalized micromagnetic modeling.
• Use proprietary and off-the-shelf micromagnetic software to investigate magnetic phenomena relevant to future storage technologies.
• Model HAMR, optical interactions with magnetic recording media, and spin-torque-assisted magnetic switching.
• Work with test engineers and data analysts to explain experimentally observed phenomena using computational models.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Programming experience with Python, CUDA, C++, Fortran, or comparable languages.
• Familiarity with magnetic materials, magnetism, spin transport, optical interactions with magnetic materials, or magnetic data storage.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work both independently and under supervision.
• Self-motivation, adaptability, and effective teamwork.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux-based computing hardware.
