Company

hirify.global is a nuclear technology company developing advanced nuclear reactors, hybrid energy solutions, and medical isotope applications.

What you will do

  • Create formal requirements, design, implementation, and testing documentation for nuclear methods software supporting reactor licensing.
  • Develop and improve software and integrate third-party programs during validation and verification.
  • Design sensitivity studies covering meshing, physics coupling, transport options, cross-section preparation, fission products, and spatial kinetics.
  • Build methods for assessing uncertainty propagation and its effect on safety margins.
  • Train reactor designers and developers to use the simulation software suite.
  • Improve modeling workflows through input tools, visualization, reporting, and simulation-output analysis.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, in nuclear engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with fast-reactor physics and nuclear design or analysis methodologies, including criticality, flux and power distributions, fuel management, shielding, activation, control rod worth, detector response, and uncertainty analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of deterministic and stochastic particle transport, isotopic depletion, perturbation theory, nuclear data, and reactor kinetics.
  • Strong programming and computational skills, with experience integrating and automating simulation tools; Python, C++, and Fortran are relevant technologies.
  • Knowledge of software development tools, numerical methods, applied mathematics, technical documentation, and software best practices.
  • Experience with nuclear methodology work involving the NRC and an ASME NQA-1-compliant quality environment is preferred; the role is subject to ANSI/ANS 3.1 qualification requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear engineering software such as DIF3D, MC2, PARTISN, MCNP, Serpent, SCALE, PARCS, APA, CASMO, DRAGON, or ARMI.
  • Experience focused on fast-neutron reactors.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and experience supporting collaborative code reviews.

Culture & Benefits

  • Medical, vision, dental, life, disability, wellness, and gender affirmation benefits.
  • 401(k) plan, paid parental leave, 21 accrued PTO days, and 10 paid holidays.
  • Discretionary short-term incentive eligibility and competitive compensation.
  • Relocation assistance and professional and educational support opportunities.
  • Work includes extended computer use, prolonged repetitive work, and minimal physical exertion with the ability to lift up to 25 pounds; travel is 0–10%.
