Staff AI Software Engineer (Fintech): Building AI-enabling platforms, agentic workflows, retrieval and knowledge systems for a regulated lending business with an accent on production-scale AI, developer tooling, and safety. Focus on designing evaluation harnesses, observability, and compliance guardrails while transforming existing services, data platforms, and pipelines into systems that AI agents can use reliably.

What you will do
- Build harnesses, developer tools, reusable workflows, and guardrails that enable engineering and product teams to use AI agents at scale.
- Evolve existing services, data platforms, and pipelines so AI agents and models can operate on them safely and effectively.
- Design retrieval, memory, and knowledge-representation systems that make code, data, business logic, documentation, and operational state usable by LLMs and agents.
- Redefine software development workflows around AI-assisted specifications, coding, reviews, testing, and deployment.
- Design and ship agentic systems for internal workflows and take at least one high-stakes AI capability into production.
- Build reusable platforms and reference implementations while mentoring engineers and increasing AI-native engineering fluency.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including several years designing and shipping production ML/AI systems at scale.
- Strong systems and software engineering fundamentals.
- Staff-level technical influence, including setting direction across multiple teams and making decisions under ambiguity.
- Experience building and shipping AI products and transforming legacy organizations toward AI-native practices.
- Ability to make sound build, buy, fine-tune, and prompt decisions while optimizing outcomes and cost.
- Strong communication skills for alignment with engineers, product managers, and risk and compliance stakeholders.
