Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California; hybrid work from the Mountain View office 3 days per week

Base pay: $202,500–$274,000 per year, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable, secure, maintainable services for the agentic AI seller platform.
• Develop platform services, APIs, Salesforce integrations, and real-time and batch data pipelines supporting seller experiences and machine learning models.
• Contribute hands-on across the full software lifecycle, spending approximately 70–80% of the role on development.
• Own complex technical problems, resolve cross-team dependencies, and influence platform architecture and engineering standards.
• Ship production AI capabilities with evaluation, observability, and guardrail mechanisms.
• Mentor engineers and improve quality through design and code reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience building web, software, or data-intensive applications.
• Experience designing and shipping services in large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE, C#, or another object-oriented language, with sound distributed-systems design judgment.
• Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML capabilities in production, ideally including LLM-based features such as retrieval-augmented generation, prompt and context engineering, or evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to lead technical workstreams, communicate trade-offs, and influence decisions across teams.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms and seller-facing experiences.
• Experience with agent frameworks, model orchestration, vector search, or AI evaluation and observability tools.
• Knowledge of SQL and large-scale data warehouse or lakehouse technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Presto, Athena, or Trino.
• Experience with data science, machine learning, big data, cloud technologies, Kafka, Cassandra, Redshift, GraphDB, or Apache Iceberg.
