Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Salary: CAD 185,000–231,500 per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for notification delivery, personalization, and platform governance.
• Own the technical vision and roadmap for the Notification Platform in partnership with Growth Engineering.
• Drive the Pedregal platform, including centralized deduplication and holistic ranking capabilities.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Data Science, and engineering teams on send-time, frequency, channel optimization, and Generative AI content.
• Deliver real-time notification systems across push, email, SMS, and the Notification Hub, balancing reliability, growth, and unit economics.
• Scale configurable infrastructure internationally and maintain high standards for correctness, scalability, experimentation, and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of industry experience.
• 2+ years of engineering management experience with teams larger than five people.
• Experience building and scaling backend, platform, or distributed systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Work location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

• AI/ML experience in personalization, ranking, or Generative AI.
