Senior GNC Engineer I - Mission Formulation (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The position is based at hirify.global’s global headquarters and is subject to U.S. Government ITAR export regulations.

Base pay range: $130,000–$176,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Act as the GNC contact for business development proposals and mission definition.
• Develop launch and mission operational concepts, including orbital and suborbital trajectories.
• Perform trade studies, preliminary and final mission analyses, and detailed GNC design activities.
• Work with customers and external stakeholders on mission-specific requirements and document proposed solutions.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, Monte Carlo simulations, flight-code releases, and mission operations verification.
• Build tools and processes to automate GNC modeling and analysis tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of industry experience in GNC or ADCS.
• Understanding of orbital mechanics or closed-loop control systems, preferably for launch vehicles.
• Experience with trajectory optimization and real-time control or estimation algorithms for autonomous vehicles.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance.
• For U.S. office candidates, eligibility to access ITAR-regulated technology is required.
• ITAR eligibility generally requires U.S. citizenship, lawful U.S. permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or the ability to obtain applicable government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with requirements assessments, interface control documents, and mission-analysis tools such as POST, ASTOS, or TAOS.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, SciPy, C/C++, Git, and rigid-body dynamics modeling.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, and self-management skills.
