Strategic Medical Director, Inpatient

Location: United States; remote-first with travel to Boston, Massachusetts for onboarding and occasional in-person meetings and company events

Salary: $285,000–$305,000 annually, plus bonus and benefits

What you will do

• Lead the vision and evolution of clinical and digital care management offerings as the inpatient clinical subject matter expert.
• Develop inpatient clinical programs, clinical logic, medical policies, and technology-enabled solutions with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Operations, Growth, and other teams.
• Use market data, consumer research, and patient analytics to design innovative clinical delivery approaches and integrated care pathways.
• Build research packages, evaluate strategic partners and vendors, and cultivate external partnerships.
• Support prospective client meetings, sales opportunities, client relationships, solution delivery, and upsell opportunities as a clinical expert.
• Monitor launched programs, guide utilization management strategy, and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency or AOA-approved equivalent; Internal Medicine or Family Practice training preferred.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in any US state.
• Active ABMS or AOA board certification in the primary specialty.
• At least 5 years of clinical practice beyond residency or fellowship, with inpatient experience preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in managed care, clinical strategy, health technology, healthcare solutions or services, expert consulting, or related payer-facing roles.
• Demonstrated ability to design innovative clinical programs, influence clients and internal partners, communicate with executive stakeholders, and manage multiple projects.

Nice to have

• MBA or advanced degree in a healthcare-related discipline.
• Experience as a consulting partner or lead thinker for payers and their members.
