Medical Director - Clinical Strategy (AI)

Location: United States Work at Home. Home internet must use cable broadband or fiber optic service with at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Annual salary: $212,600–$354,300 USD, depending on experience and geographic location. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Develop and execute clinical strategy for high-risk members with complex chronic conditions, oncology needs, serious illness, high drug spend, and specialty pharmacy needs.
• Design scalable clinical programs covering member identification, engagement, navigation, escalation, care coordination, and longitudinal support.
• Lead digital and AI-enabled solutions, including AI agents, advanced segmentation, proactive outreach, member navigation, clinician workflow support, and technology-enabled case management.
• Translate clinical and business priorities into strategic roadmaps, business cases, implementation plans, operating models, and measurable performance goals.
• Partner with Product, Technology, Data, Clinical Operations, Pharmacy, Analytics, Finance, and market-facing teams to execute complex initiatives.
• Develop KPI frameworks and executive-ready recommendations covering clinical outcomes, affordability, member experience, engagement, efficiency, adoption, and client value.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state and current board certification from an ABMS- or AOA-recognized specialty are required.
• At least three years of clinical practice experience.
• Experience developing and implementing healthcare strategy, clinical programs, and measurable outcomes.
• Strong business, financial, consulting, analytics, process improvement, and executive communication skills.
• Experience leading teams or cross-functional workgroups in a matrixed environment.
• Digital and AI fluency, including experience partnering on AI-enabled clinical solutions, predictive analytics, member engagement, or technology-enabled care navigation.

Nice to have

• Experience in payer strategy, care management, complex care, oncology, specialty pharmacy, high-cost therapies, serious illness care, chronic condition management, value-based care, or clinical product design.
• Experience in a national health plan, health services organization, provider organization, pharmacy organization, healthcare consulting firm, or digital health company.
• Experience developing executive-level business cases, investment recommendations, operating models, or transformation roadmaps.
