Medical Director - Inpatient Review

Location: Remote nationwide within the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm local time, with approximately five rotating weekends per year.

Salary: $223,800-$313,100 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Perform expert clinical reviews of inpatient medical records and assess medical necessity.
• Apply national guidelines, CMS regulations, hirify.global policies, and recognized clinical standards.
• Analyze complex hospital-based cases and issue clear utilization management determinations.
• Communicate with external providers by phone to obtain clinical information and discuss review outcomes.
• Maintain productivity, accuracy, quality, and timely completion of assigned reviews.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to committees or special projects.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree with 5 or more years of post-residency clinical experience.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state and willingness to obtain additional licenses as needed.
• Current board certification in an AOABPS- or ABMS-recognized medical specialty.
• Meet all credentialing requirements with no state or federal sanctions.
• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to work in a structured multidisciplinary environment.
• Remote work requires a dedicated space for protecting member PHI and HIPAA information, plus internet speeds of at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.

Nice to have

• Inpatient experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, or hospital-based family or internal medicine.
• Utilization management or inpatient review experience, including Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, or commercial lines.
• Familiarity with MCG or InterQual guidelines.
• Experience with Medicare populations, hospitals, integrated delivery networks, or medical management organizations.
• Experience with clinical technology platforms, process improvement, education, or team teaching.
