Senior Engineering Manager, Grafana Frontend

Location: United States, remote; applicants must be in USA time zones only, specifically EST

Base compensation: USD 208,602–250,322 annually, plus RSUs.

What you will do

• Lead the Frontend Platform and Navigation squads, including performance, delivery, staffing, and customer outcomes.
• Coach senior engineers, develop technical leaders, manage hiring and team planning, and maintain a culture of accountability.
• Shape product priorities through customer, community, and internal-user discovery in partnership with Product and Design.
• Own delivery from discovery through rollout and measurement, managing milestones, dependencies, risks, and operational demands.
• Set engineering direction for frontend foundations, navigation, search, accessibility, developer experience, architecture, tooling, reliability, and multitenant capabilities.
• Lead AI and automation adoption, participate in the engineering management on-call rotation, and improve incident response and engineering productivity.

Requirements

• Significant experience managing senior engineers, building healthy teams, developing technical leaders, and addressing performance gaps.
• Strong technical foundation in modern web or frontend systems and the ability to evaluate architectural and engineering-quality trade-offs.
• Track record of turning ambiguous cross-team problems into clear priorities and measurable results while managing delivery and operational risks.
• Strong product and customer judgment, with the ability to connect engineering investments to user, developer, and business outcomes.
• Clear written communication and the ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed organisation.
• Practical experience using AI and automation in leadership work and leading teams in their effective adoption.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, TypeScript, or comparable large-scale frontend ecosystems.
• Experience leading developer platform teams supporting plugins or extensions.
• Experience with navigation, search, information architecture, resource-management products, multitenant SaaS, or major platform migrations.
• Experience working on a widely adopted open-source product.
