Systems Designer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Burlington, Ontario, Canada; travel between 30–50% throughout North America

Salary: CAD 90,000–105,000 per year, plus benefits, bonuses, and additional extra-hours payments.

What you will do

• Engineer and implement real-time automation controls and industrial information solutions.
• Conceptualize systems during project design and develop PLC, PAC, HMI, SCADA, MES, database, network, vision, machine safety, and servo motion solutions.
• Program, debug, test, and commission solutions at client sites.
• Design high-level software and ERP connectors using technologies such as C#, .NET, HTML5, SQL, VB, and VBA.
• Create engineering notes, proposals, design traceability documentation, case studies, and other project materials.
• Develop methodologies, identify improvement opportunities, learn new technologies, and mentor colleagues.

Requirements

• Successful or upcoming completion of a degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Technology.
• At least 10 years of experience with relevant automation, programming, networking, database, HMI, SCADA, MES, or information solution technologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Meticulous, analytical, focused, conscientious, self-starting, and quick-learning approach.
• Valid driver’s license and full-time access to a personal vehicle.
• Willingness to travel 30–50% throughout North America.

Nice to have

• Extensive experience with Ignition.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Modicon, Wonderware, Cognex, Datalogic, Keyence, Sepasoft, Microsoft, Oracle, Unix, or Linux platforms.
