Senior Spacecraft Flight Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Develop reliable flight software governing spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations throughout the mission.
• Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based embedded software in C++.
• Own software design, testing, verification, validation, and integration.
• Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended engineering problems.
• Support system quality, performance, and flight operations.
• Collaborate with the team to communicate, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
• 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
• Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems and safety-critical software, preferably in aerospace.
• Experience with spacecraft telemetry and telecommand systems such as CCSDS.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
• Experience with the F' or cFS framework.
• Experience with Python or Rust.
• Knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, and EtherCAT.
