Manager Hardware Engineering (Automotive Telematics)

Location: Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; flexible work from the office and remotely. Willingness to travel within Germany and internationally around 10–25% is required.

What you will do

• Lead the Hardware Basic Development team responsible for connectivity ECU products, including telematics control units and V2X OBU/RSU systems.
• Own hardware concepts, designs, and bills of materials while supporting business cases, cost targets, and VAVE activities.
• Coordinate hardware architecture, development, integration, manufacturing, qualification, certification, and maintenance activities.
• Lead cross-regional and cross-functional engineering teams across Europe, APAC, and North America.
• Manage customer requirements, technical reviews, project reporting, risk management, and customer presentations and negotiations.
• Supervise 5–10 direct reports in Germany and Romania, with more than 10 indirect reports depending on projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience developing hardware for in-vehicle infotainment systems, telematics, connectivity products, or similarly complex automotive ECUs.
• More than 5 years of project management experience and experience providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of hardware architecture, hardware development, EMC, RF design, HW/SW interfaces, production technologies, and mechanical integration.
• Knowledge of automotive requirements and experience collaborating with large cross-functional and external teams.
• Strong verbal and written English skills; availability for flexible office and remote work in Germany.

Nice to have

• Negotiation skills and experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DNG, or ALM.
• Experience with ASIL and ISO 26262-compliant hardware designs.
