Software Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Plano, Texas; candidates must reside within a commutable distance. Must have the right to work in the United States without current or future Toyota immigration sponsorship.

What you will do

• Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver features from concept through production.
• Build and maintain scalable, cloud-native services on AWS.
• Write clean, well-tested code in TypeScript, Python, or Java.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, planning sessions, and code reviews.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues across the stack with support from senior engineers.
• Apply testing, observability, version control, and deployment practices while taking increasing ownership of well-scoped tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience such as a bootcamp, self-directed learning with a portfolio, or similar.
• Up to 2 years of software engineering experience; internships and academic projects count.
• Foundational knowledge of at least one backend language: TypeScript, Python, or Java preferred.
• Basic understanding of RESTful APIs, including how to build and consume them.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows including branching, pull requests, and code review.
• Exposure to cloud services, with AWS preferred, including conceptual knowledge of Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests aligned with quality standards.
• Ability to contribute to planning, code reviews, testing, and production support activities.
• Curiosity, a growth mindset, and good communication skills, including the ability to ask for help and explain current work.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, or S3.
• Familiarity with serverless architecture concepts.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Exposure to containerized workloads such as Docker or ECS.
• Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, or Datadog.
• Open-source contributions or a strong personal project portfolio.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• AWS certifications such as Cloud Practitioner or Developer Associate.
