Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid; United States of America, Eagan, Minnesota. Other locations include Frisco, Texas; Toronto, Ontario; and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Work from anywhere is available for up to 8 weeks per year.

Base compensation: $82,000–$152,200 USD for eligible US locations; $87,400–$137,400 CAD for Ontario, Canada. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Build and ship AI agentic features from written requirements through design, implementation, code review, and production.
• Design and build backend services with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL for real-time AI interactions and large-scale data flows.
• Integrate LLM providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic, implementing orchestration, routing, error handling, guardrails, telemetry, and observability.
• Strengthen CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation, automated testing, and cloud-native development workflows.
• Diagnose production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve system reliability and code quality.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Labs teams while contributing to design discussions, agile ceremonies, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Working knowledge of Python and experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud services.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Excellent debugging skills and the ability to deliver production-ready, highly reliable systems.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort working in fast-paced, iterative environments.
• Evidence of learning a technology or skill independently and shipping the result.

Nice to have

• BA or BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience optimizing backend performance through monitoring, profiling, and tuning for scale.
• Hands-on experience building AI-powered product features, especially agentic AI workflows, multi-step reasoning, tool or API orchestration, LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, Claude Agent SDK, or AgentCore at runtime.
• Experience with Agentic UI, SSE/AG-UI streaming semantics, TypeScript, or React.
• Experience with Datadog, CloudWatch Log Insights, or Braintrust.
• Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure, vector databases, model serving, and LLM cost or latency optimization.
• Experience with testing, automation, and operational robustness.
• Previous experience building products for legal, compliance, or other regulated professional domains.
