Billing Accounting Specialist (Healthcare Diagnostics)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates within commuting distance of the Brisbane, California office must attend regularly. The role is also associated with Waltham, Massachusetts.

Salary: $21.65–$28.60 per hour for Waltham, MA; $24.05–$32.70 per hour for other United States locations.

What you will do

• Post payments, denials, and correspondence to patient accounts in the revenue cycle management system.
• Reconcile electronic and paper remittances and explanations of benefits with bank receipts.
• Interpret denial correspondence and accurately record denial reasons.
• Sort incoming mail and prepare claim packages, patient statements, and patient letters.
• Prepare refund checks, obtain approvals, and support medical record projects.
• Monitor inventory in the on-site print room and support RCM teammates as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6–12 months of experience in data entry or medical billing.
• Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
• Knowledge of health insurance terminology and revenue cycle processes.
• Understanding of HIPAA patient protections and proper handling of protected health information.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills in a high-volume environment.

Nice to have

• Experience posting payments in the Telcor system.
