TL;DR
Global Portfolio Manager, Partnerships for Forests (P4F) (Maternity Cover) (Climate and sustainable land use): Leading global grant and technical assistance portfolios that support forest conservation, sustainable land use, and market transformation with an accent on policy and market access, carbon and corporate claims, smallholder inclusion, resilience, and capital mobilisation. Focus on developing and overseeing complex cross-regional projects, building public-private partnerships, managing delivery and budgets, and measuring systemic impact across tropical forest regions.

Location: Hybrid role based in hirify.global’s London or Bristol office, with three days in the office and two days remote. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

  • Lead the identification, development, approval, and delivery of grant projects aligned with programme, regional, and results frameworks.
  • Develop and manage a cross-cutting portfolio across Latin America, Africa, and South-east Asia, driving innovation, replication, and scale.
  • Build partnerships with civil society, public-sector, private-sector, donor, and investor stakeholders to source high-impact opportunities and mobilise finance.
  • Oversee proposals, contracts, milestones, budgets, timelines, value for money, additionality, and measurable impact while resolving delivery challenges.
  • Lead and develop Project Officers, including line management, mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
  • Represent the programme externally, coordinate learning and MEL activities, contribute to client reporting, and share knowledge and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Experience in international development, climate, nature, forestry, sustainable land use, or a related sector.
  • Experience with sustainable supply chains and commodities such as coffee, cocoa, palm oil, rubber, timber, soy, NTFPs, and carbon/PES markets.
  • Knowledge of international forest policy, conservation finance, sustainable land-use financing, and nature-based solutions in tropical regions.
  • Strong project and portfolio management, strategic analysis, stakeholder engagement, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing staff, including previous line management and performance management responsibilities.
  • Fluent English with exceptional written, verbal, and report-writing skills; ability to travel nationally and internationally; right to work in the UK required.

Nice to have

  • Experience delivering FCDO-funded or other large international development programmes.
  • Relevant qualifications in environmental studies, economics, public policy, international development, or international relations.
  • Experience with development financial institutions and banks.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and/or Bahasa Indonesia.
