R&D Technician – Structural Welding (Aerospace)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite work at the Mariner Factory with occasional travel for launch activities across the country

What you will do

• Fabricate, assemble, and modify flight articles, ground support equipment, test articles, and fixtures.
• Perform structural welding, precision drilling, bonding, harnessing, and mechanical assembly.
• Assemble, service, and operate hydraulic actuation systems.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, blueprints, and related technical documentation.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to refine designs and procedures.
• Support root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and launch activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• At least 5 years of structural welding experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical experience with aerospace or automotive testing, complex mechanical systems, or electromechanical fabrication and assembly.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold climates.
• Access to export-controlled information may require eligibility for applicable U.S. Government authorization, citizenship, or other legal requirements.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in engineering, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or a related field.
• LA City Welding Certification.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Teamcenter, NX, precision measuring equipment, rigging, cranes, and lift operations.
