Dimensional and Mechanical Inspector (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts, sheet metal, hardware, and mechanical assemblies.
• Conduct dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Verify material certifications, traceability, workmanship, configuration, cleanliness, and compliance documentation.
• Support first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements and assist with customer and government source inspections.
• Document nonconformances, maintain inspection records, and collaborate with manufacturing and engineering on resolution and defect reduction.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience inspecting mechanical or structural hardware in an aerospace or defense environment.
• Strong proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience using common dimensional inspection tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical workmanship standards and assembly practices.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to satisfy applicable U.S. Government eligibility, citizenship, authorization, and export-control requirements if classified information or restricted government systems are involved.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting R&D and early-stage production programs.
• Experience inspecting flight or mission-critical hardware.
• Familiarity with digital quality systems and inspection documentation.
• Experience working with machinists, assemblers, engineers, and quality personnel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
