CMM Programmer/Dimensional Inspector (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, and execute CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS.
• Program CMM routines for complex geometries, GD&T callouts, and tight-tolerance features.
• Set up CMMs, calibrate probes, configure fixtures, and align CAD models.
• Perform in-process, final, visual, and traditional dimensional inspections of machined parts, sheet metal, hardware, and mechanical assemblies.
• Generate inspection reports, analyze measurement data, and maintain accurate quality records.
• Support first article inspections under AS9102, document nonconformances, and collaborate with manufacturing and engineering on resolution and defect reduction.

Requirements

• 5+ years of PC-DMIS programming and CMM operation experience in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
• Experience creating, debugging, and optimizing inspection programs from engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Strong proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, including advanced GD&T concepts.
• Experience with probe qualification, fixture setup, CMM maintenance, and traditional measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages.
• Knowledge of mechanical workmanship standards, assembly practices, statistical analysis, measurement uncertainty, and digital quality systems.
• The role may require access to classified information, restricted U.S. Government sites, systems, or export-controlled information, subject to applicable authorization and eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with bridge, horizontal arm, or portable CMM platforms and software such as PolyWorks or Calypso.
• Experience inspecting complex aerospace components, flight hardware, or mission-critical hardware.
• Knowledge of scanning techniques and point-cloud inspection methods.
• Experience supporting R&D and early-stage production programs.
• Experience mentoring or training junior inspectors.
