Payment Operations Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA; office attendance is expected approximately 2–3 days per week.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop a team of Payment Operations Analysts.
• Own team SLAs, on-call rotations, escalation paths, reporting, and process improvements.
• Manage day-to-day operations with banking and payment partners, including triage, escalations, reviews, and due diligence.
• Operate payment compliance programs covering Nacha, unclaimed property, bank compliance, and Payment Operations' SOC 1 audit responsibilities.
• Investigate payment incidents such as failed batches, reconciliation breaks, and partner outages, then lead retrospectives and corrective actions.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Accounting, Risk, Legal, and CX while promoting AI use for investigations, documentation, and automation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in payment, banking, or treasury operations, including ownership of escalations, partner issues, or ticket queues.
• 2+ years of direct people-management experience.
• Deep knowledge of ACH/Nacha, wire, and RTP payment rails; international money movement experience is valuable.
• Experience managing bank or payment partner relationships, including issue triage, escalations, and operational reviews.
• Experience operating compliance programs, audits, controls, and documentation such as Nacha Risk Self-Assessments, SOC 1, or unclaimed property programs.
• Strong people leadership, cross-functional execution, comfort with ambiguity, and practical AI fluency.

Nice to have

• Nacha AAP or AFPP certification.
• Experience with international money movement.
