Summer 2027 Intern – Actuarial Benefit Consulting Services (Actuarial)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut; on-site and in-person. The internship runs for 10 weeks from June 2, 2027, through August 6, 2027, and requires reliable commuting to Hartford.

Compensation: $26.50–$30.50 per hour. Base salary range: $50,300–$69,125.

What you will do

• Analyze client data used to develop pension plan liabilities and reconcile census changes, gains, and losses.
• Prepare ERISA funding valuations and government filings.
• Support employer match true-up, non-elective allocation calculations, cost projections, plan design optimization, and nondiscrimination testing.
• Develop tools and models to streamline actuarial workflows and support plan data analysis.
• Perform actuarial research and statistical analyses across defined benefit, defined contribution, retiree healthcare, and equity compensation plans.
• Deliver individual and group projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams and business leaders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
• Available for the full 10-week program and able to reliably commute to Hartford for in-person work.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. CPT and OPT are not supported.
• Strong interest in applying mathematics, data, and science to business strategy, with effective communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with accountability and follow-through.

Nice to have

• At least two years of academic progress toward a bachelor's degree and availability for full-time employment by mid-2028.
• Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another math-focused major.
• One or more passed Society of Actuaries exams.
• Experience with large datasets, VBA, Python, or Microsoft Office products.
