Data Center Technician - Chester, VA

Location: Chester, Virginia, United States; 100% onsite at a data center. The role includes rotating on-call coverage, response to onsite equipment failures within 60 minutes while scheduled, and up to 10% travel to other data center locations.

Salary: $65,000–$83,000 base salary per year, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Maintain data center operations to support service availability, reliability, and defined service levels.
• Diagnose and repair hardware, networking, and software-related failures, including root-cause analysis.
• Assemble, install, maintain, and inventory server and networking equipment.
• Develop scripts for updating server and networking hardware.
• Provide technical support and training for data center teams.
• Create documentation, maintain test and tool equipment, and participate in rotating on-call coverage.

Requirements

• Experience troubleshooting and assembling computer hardware.
• Linux operating system experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 environment and participate in rotating on-call shifts.
• Ability to lift and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and work in cramped, elevated, and variable-temperature data center areas.
• Strong time management, organization, communication, prioritization, and incident-response skills.
• Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements, including qualifying as a U.S. person or being eligible for the required authorization.

Nice to have

• Data center or computer networking experience.
• Python, Bash, or other scripting experience.
• Cisco IOS or Juniper JunOS experience.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
