Data Center IT Technician

Location: Onsite in Kansas City, Missouri, United States; shift-based work with occasional travel between data center locations.

Base compensation: $30–$45 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Diagnose and resolve server hardware issues across compute, storage, and networking platforms.
• Install, upgrade, decommission, and maintain data center hardware based on operational and project requirements.
• Manage fiber optic cables, copper patch cords, and structured cabling according to standards and documentation.
• Perform preventive maintenance, break/fix work, routine deployments, and hardware diagnostics for H200 GPU cloud infrastructure.
• Support RMA activities through hardware identification, fault documentation, and coordination with the diagnostic team.
• Maintain hardware configurations, troubleshooting guides, maintenance logs, runbooks, tickets, and operational reports while coordinating with infrastructure engineers and data center management.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience diagnosing and resolving server hardware issues in a production or enterprise data center.
• Understanding of data center operations, server architecture, and network equipment principles.
• Basic Linux proficiency and familiarity with command-line tools for system identification, log review, and diagnostics.
• Experience with server hardware, enterprise network switches, and fiber optic cabling.
• Ability to maintain documentation, spreadsheets, logs, records, and operational reports.
• Ability to work onsite, stand for extended periods, lift equipment up to 50 pounds, work at heights and in confined spaces, and push or pull infrastructure weighing up to 500 pounds.
