Platform Engineer (ClimateTech)

Location: London (Hybrid)

Compensation: £90,000 – £110,000

What you will do

• Ship end-to-end services including data models, pipelines, and APIs.
• Turn emerging ideas into working prototypes to accelerate customer feedback.
• Own technical decisions within your scope, balancing refactoring with system stability.
• Maintain and document systems to ensure long-term reliability.
• Improve team engineering standards through code reviews and mentoring.
• Collaborate with product, science, and AI teams to ensure commercial success.

Requirements

• Significant experience re-architecting or re-platforming production Python services.
• Strong background in designing data models and APIs with a focus on schema trade-offs.
• Ability to work from problem statements rather than tickets.
• Experience extending existing systems rather than performing full rewrites.
• Practical experience using AI in development workflows.
• Must be based in or able to work from the London office.

Nice to have

• Experience with geospatial data, GIS, Postgres, or PostGIS.
• Proficiency in scientific Python (NumPy, GeoPandas, Xarray) or Dagster.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, or NestJS.
