Household Claims Handler (Insurance)

Location: Liverpool, UK — hybrid working. Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours between 9:00am and 5:30pm.

Salary: £27,500–£31,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a potential annual bonus of up to £2,000.

What you will do

• Create new household claims, capture accurate information, and establish the facts of each incident.
• Manage claims involving accidental damage, fire, theft, escape of water, and other household risks from first notification through settlement.
• Review policy terms, conditions, endorsements, exclusions, and underwriting requirements throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Investigate potentially fraudulent claims and provide accurate indemnity, quantum, and reserve assessments.
• Coordinate with third-party suppliers, obtain required documentation, and manage customer and supplier expectations.
• Maintain accurate files and portfolios while meeting deadlines, targets, and best-practice requirements.

Requirements

• At least two years of claims handling experience in household, motor, EL/PL, or a related area.
• Ability to interpret policy wording, terms, conditions, and endorsements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including rapport building.
• Ability to fact-find, analyse information, and make accurate decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills with a team-oriented approach.
• Applicants must have at least one year remaining on a Graduate or Post-Study Work visa; visa sponsorship is not available.
