Data Architect (Fintech)

Location: Downtown Toronto, Canada; hybrid with office attendance at least three times per week

hirify.global is a privately held technology company providing an enterprise wealth management platform for the Canadian financial services market.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture for decoupling data from monolithic systems into domain-specific services and define synchronization and consistency patterns.
• Design and oversee transactional data replication, analytics pipelines, DataOps practices, and Data-as-a-Product capabilities.
• Optimize cloud data platforms through partitioning, indexing, lifecycle policies, and cost-efficient storage and compute strategies.
• Define Master Data Management strategies, identify Systems of Record, and govern data flows between core and downstream applications.
• Embed CIRO, CSA, and GDPR requirements, data sovereignty, PII protection, privacy by design, retention, and disposal into data architecture.
• Establish data quality rules and SLAs for critical data elements such as KYC and account information, while guiding database performance and access patterns.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or a related senior technical role.
• Expert proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, OLTP optimization, T-SQL, and PostgreSQL; familiarity with BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouses.
• Advanced conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling skills across relational and NoSQL systems, including complex financial relationships.
• Experience with domain-driven service architectures, distributed data consistency, CDC, event-driven architecture, API-based integration, and data pipelines.
• Experience implementing or managing data governance programs and guiding monolith-to-microservices decomposition.
• Knowledge of wealth management, fintech, or banking regulations and concepts including CIRO/IIROC, MFDA, GDPR, KYC, Systems of Record, and PII protection.

Nice to have

• Experience with Dagster, Airbyte, dbt, Spring Batch, Spring Cloud Dataflow, Google Cloud data services, Data Cataloging tools, and data quality platforms.
• Experience preparing data layers for AI/ML, vector databases, RAG patterns, or feature stores.
• Azure or Google Cloud Platform data architecture certification.
• Experience modernizing legacy reporting with BI tools and consolidated analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK or BIAN data models.
