Researcher Web Security, Detection (Cybersecurity)

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 annual salary for New York-based hires; compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Reverse-engineer bot tools, automation frameworks, fraud kits, and other adversary tooling.
• Probe existing detections like an attacker, identify gaps, and adapt to changing adversary techniques.
• Monitor bot and fraud ecosystems and convert intelligence into actionable detection signals.
• Develop heuristics, signatures, and detection concepts with Data Scientists and Engineers.
• Design mitigations that neutralize attackers while preserving useful detection signals.
• Automate manual investigations and rule-writing into scalable detection workflows.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of bots, automation, and tooling used to attack web applications at scale.
• Strong web expertise, including HTTP, TLS, browser internals, fingerprinting, CAPTCHAs, and evasion techniques.
• Experience or strong interest in ethical hacking and reverse engineering with an adversarial mindset.
• Ability to translate attacker research into concrete signals for defenders.
• Comfortable scripting in Python or JavaScript to build proofs of concept and analyst tooling.
• Ability to explain complex attacker behavior to technical and non-technical audiences.
