What you will do
- Develop and maintain production backend systems using Python, FastAPI or similar technologies.
- Integrate AI tools, LLM APIs, coding agents, MCP servers, and connectors into engineering workflows.
- Set up guardrails and conventions for AI-assisted development across the team.
- Evaluate multiple AI platforms for comparable use cases.
- Apply function-calling, tool-use, and basic RAG approaches where they provide practical value.
- Propose new tools and drive their adoption in real engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on backend development experience.
- Production experience with Python, FastAPI or similar frameworks, and APIs.
- Hands-on experience integrating or building with AI tools, including coding agents, LLM APIs, MCP servers, or connectors.
- Experience using AI to reduce friction in personal engineering workflows.
- Good judgment about appropriate and inappropriate uses of AI, with a proactive approach to experimentation.
Nice to have
- Experience writing custom MCP servers or connectors.
- Experience establishing guardrails and conventions for AI-assisted development.
- Experience evaluating Claude, Amazon Q, Cursor, or other AI platforms for the same use case.
- Familiarity with function-calling and tool-use patterns in LLM APIs.
- Basic understanding of RAG approaches.
