Senior Python AI/ML Engineer

Location: Remote from Brazil or Argentina; flexible work setup and hours.

What you will do

• Build scalable ML engineering platforms, backend APIs, microservices, and asynchronous workflows with Python, FastAPI, SQL, and Celery.
• Deploy and operate machine learning, deep learning, LLM, and Generative AI systems, including Azure OpenAI and GPT-4 Vision integrations.
• Design RAG, feature engineering, inference, continuous training, model feedback, drift detection, and model KPI pipelines.
• Develop LLM observability and prompt management with tracking for prompts, tokens, costs, latency, versioning, and fallbacks.
• Implement maintainable layered architectures, multi-tenant data isolation, error handling, testing, logging, tracing, and API documentation.
• Collaborate with client-facing teams, participate in design reviews and agile ceremonies, and evaluate emerging architecture patterns through prototypes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of Python development experience and 3+ years building backend APIs with FastAPI, asynchronous patterns, rate limiting, and SQLAlchemy.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with machine learning and production LLM systems.
• Strong knowledge of RAG, vector databases, hybrid search, LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face, NLP, computer vision, OCR, and GPT-4 Vision.
• Experience with MLOps, MLflow, model versioning, A/B testing, feature pipelines, real-time and batch inference, model serving, and SQL.
• Advanced Python practices including async/await, type hints, Pydantic, dependency injection, interfaces, abstract base classes, and SOLID principles.

Nice to have

• Docker, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Azure OpenAI, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Container Registry, data security, multi-tenant isolation, and audit trails.
• Big data processing, ETL/ELT pipelines, document processing, OCR tooling, and LlamaIndex.
• LLM cost optimization, production incident management, on-call experience, and testing strategies for non-deterministic outputs.
• Experience with regulated industries such as healthcare or pharma.
